Important Note: You might need to wire it per the manual first to make sure the light on the fan is turned on from the remote. Both switches work! I capped off the blue wire from the receiver. And yellow wire from the reciever connects directly to the black wire on the fan. The blue wire from the fan goes directly to the black wire from the ceiling to turn on the light directly from the switch. I finally got around to wiring the fan, and the experts here on stackoverflow were right. I don't like this one because the right switch is a dud after you've wired it. I'm not sure which functions the yellow and blue wires from the receiver, so I'm taking a guess in Diagram #1. Left switch goes directly to the light, the right one powers the fan.ĭiagram 2: Below this is the version the manual says. I would like one of the switches to turn on the light, and the other to provide power for the fan (which I can then use the remote to control).ĭiagram 1: This is my 'hack' attempted at it. The fan is remote operated for both lights and fan speed, however, I have two switches on the wall - one for the fan and one for the light. Not an electrician, just a guy on the internet.I want to install a Hunter Exeter fan. I know you said display but it could be on the electrical label. If possible, post your model numbers for both units. In a separate room I burnt out a fan controller that had inadequate instruction and non standard wire colouring. When I did my "remotes" the instruction warned heavily about miswiring causing damage. It may be possible the remote you bought is not rated for low LED voltages? Possible you burnt out the control or have something wired funny. It should be mentioned remotes don't like dimmer switches.Īs to the lights. The second switch can sit dormant, no need to remove it. You will only need 1 switch with as the remote system needs power but the rest is handled in its circuitry. Shared neutral with a hot per switch/device (fan and light). The electrician installed the proper wire for a standard install. No ground to the module, switch is grounded to the fan.
